When nothing else, Praise God
Clunk, clunk, clunk, CLUNK, CLUNK
When you hear those sounds, you know it's time to pull over and turn the engine off because something is not going right.
I don't know if anyone else has had this heart-sinking sound happen to them, but all you can do now is breathe. I pulled over, and the car died with half an hour of my six-and-a-half-hour drive home to Prince Albert left. I didn't laugh, and I didn't cry. I praised God that I was safe and that my passenger had CAA.
In moments like these, you have a few options:
You can become angry, upset, frustrated, tearful, hateful, or fearful.
But at this moment, God gave me absolute trust and peace. I felt confident that God had me in His hand and knew what He was doing.
We sat on the side of the road for over an hour, waiting for the tow truck driver. Because of this, I had the opportunity to phone a couple of people and enjoy a beautiful evening under God’s creation. It was the perfect night when it was warm enough that you didn’t need a jacket yet cold enough that all the bugs were gone. The stars were out, shining as bright as they could.
The tow truck driver brought me back to the NCEM headquarters. We had a wonderful chat the half an hour there. His name was Pete, and he was a believer and went to a church in Prince Albert. I was able to pray with him for safety before he left, and it was mutually encouraging.
It has now been a full month without my car, and we are still looking for an engine. Some of the optimism has worn off compared to that night, but I still know that God has me in His hands and that He is present.
Please pray for a new engine to be found in or around Regina. It’s for a manual 2001 CRV. They only made this engine for four years and only for my car, so they are hard to find.
Also, pray that in the meantime, I can still find transportation for the Young Adults Bible Study, church, camp, and anywhere else I need to go for ministry purposes.
The engine will cost around $700 ($350 for the engine and $350 to take it out). I have someone that I will be paying $300 to put the new one in. There has also been significant fuel usage in the past month as Jordan came up to PA to pick up the car, then dropped me back in P.A. and came to pick me up for thanksgiving.
Pray for funds to cover all these costs. It may seem significant, but it is cheaper than purchasing a new car!
