The Great Commission: Sharing Hope in Regina, Saskatchewan
Updated: Oct 20, 2023
I am thrilled to share with you the exciting journey the Lord has laid before me in Regina, Saskatchewan, as I dive back into First Nations ministry with the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM).
At the start of 2022, I started to feel the pull into full-time ministry and started a one-year internship with NCEM in June of 2022. Through that internship, I could see where God had gifted me, which helped shape what ministry would look like for me. Because I just got married in June of this year (2023), I took a couple of months off from ministry to learn how to be a wife and allow my husband to be the spiritual leader in our relationship. Now that I am full-blown back into ministry, I would like to share some of the things I will be doing guided by the timeless principles of the Great Commission: "Go, Baptize, and Teach."
Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV) says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." This mandate has been the compass guiding my heart as I embark on this mission.
1. Young Adults Bible Study - Teaching the Word Every Wednesday, I have the privilege of leading a Young Adults Bible study. The first night, we had 14 people attend, and we currently have 17 people who attend off and on (we have a consistent size of 7-10). This is a vital opportunity to fulfill the teaching aspect of the Great Commission. We gather to dive into God's Word, seeking to understand His truths and apply them to our lives. Through this study, we are nurturing disciples and spreading the light of Christ.
There is also a new women's study that will be starting up every second Tuesday at 1 p.m. Please pray for this study as we are in the very opening phases of figuring out where we will host it and who may come!
2. Good News Chapel - Baptism of the Holy Spirit and of Water I am humbled to work alongside Good News Chapel, an inner-city church dedicated to serving the vulnerable and the addicted. Through this church, we can see genuine transformation in the lives of those living in North-Central Regina and even see baptisms being performed. Through this church, we can carry on with member care and support in their walk with the Lord.
3. Prayer Meetings - The Power of Intercession Every Wednesday through Good News Chapel, I participate in prayer meetings. In these gatherings, we invoke the power of prayer to intercede for our community, our ministry, and the lost souls around us. We pray for our leadership, our team, those coming to the church, and the community itself. Prayer is the cornerstone of our mission, as we trust in God's guidance and provision to fulfill the Great Commission. It is not on our own understanding but through Him and His will.
4. Working with Inner City Youth - Going to the Lost The Great Commission calls us to "go." In my role, I am eager to reach out to the inner-city youth of Regina. By meeting them where they are and sharing the love of Christ, we are following the example of our Savior, who sought out the lost sheep. Together, we hope to bring these young hearts closer to Jesus.
5. Generation Hope - Spreading Testimonies of Faith My husband, Jordan, and I are excitedly working on "Generation Hope," a YouTube channel designed to connect with First Nations viewers aged 15-35 that we are hoping will be launched in 2024. Through this platform, we aim to share testimonies from their peers about Jesus and the hope found in Him. This project beautifully aligns with the teaching aspect of the Great Commission.
As I embark on this full-time ministry, I want to humbly invite you to partner with us through your prayers and financial support. I am not paid by NCEM, and your monthly donation will significantly impact our ability to continue spreading the Gospel and making disciples.
This mission in Regina embodies the essence of the Great Commission - going forth, baptizing, and teaching God's Word. With your support, we can bring hope to the hearts of First Nations people and help them discover the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.
If you feel led to contribute, please prayerfully consider a monthly donation towards this vital work. Your generosity will be instrumental in fulfilling the Great Commission in the heart of Regina, Saskatchewan.
Thank you for your prayers and support as we embark on this exciting journey together. May God bless you abundantly for your faithfulness.
In Christ's love, Linsey Blodgett
