Answering Questions about Support and Finances

$4800 in monthly support is required by NCEM. As of July 2023, I am at $595 monthly!

That equals about $4.25 an hour working 35 hour weeks.

Why do you need so much?

In 1 Timothy, we are told that the worker is worthy of their wages, and yes, this does include God's work! In full-time ministry with NCEM, I am required to work 35 hours a week. This does not leave a lot of time to have another job to help pay for the ministry itself or help my husband with some of the bills. NCEM is a faith-based ministry meaning all our funds are from supporters like you! The mission does not subsidize low support. The $4800 sounds like a lot of money, but when you think of the cost of doing ministry (gas to pick up people for Bible studies, lunches for one-on-one mentorship, snacks for Bible studies, travel across Canada for Generation Hope, camera equipment, computer programing, etc...) the costs add up pretty quick! Not to mention the rate of living has gone up significantly in the last few years. What are some other ways to support you other than financial?

Bring me in as a special speaker/guest!

Whether it be one minute during the announcements or the whole service, speaking at different churches or at mission conferences is a huge help to spread awareness of what we do at NCEM. Through this, I would be able to share my work with First Nations youth and young adults to get people excited about what the Lord is doing!

Pray for us!

I can do what I do without money, but I cannot do it without prayer. Please message me if you'd like to receive the Blodgett prayer letter in the mail every 2-3 months to see how you can pray for us. We will also send you a prayer card to hang somewhere in your home as a reminder to be praying!

Send us encouraging mail!

I always love hearing from people! Hearing that you are praying for us and letting us know how we can pray for you is huge in having a network of Christians who can carry each other's burdens (Galatians 6:2).

Help build our team!

By clicking the share button on our posts, forwarding our prayer letters to your church, sharing what we are doing with friends, and building support on our behalf, you would be blessing us in more ways than I could count! Please share my ministry with your personal circles if you feel led! Please let me know if you need more prayer letters, books, magazines, prayer cards, or support slips! I will always send out these tools free of charge.

What happens if you don't hit your monthly goal?

NCEM does not make up the difference from the general fund. It is up to me to see that I have sufficient support. If my level drops under 80% ($3840) monthly, I'm supposed to take some time away from the ministry to build my support back up to the required amount. Consistency is key in ministry, so taking time off could potentially hurt relationships with those we minister to.

Is there a cap on how much you can raise?

Yes and no! As I'm sure you know, there are high and low months for finances. On the high months, I am only allowed to get $4800, but if more support than that comes in, it will overflow to a month where I did not reach my cap. For example: if I raise $5000 in June but only $1500 in July, I will receive $4800 in June and $1700 in July because $200 overflow carried over!

If I gave you $100, how much would you receive?

As missionaries, we do get taxed. This is a job, and NCEM is our employer. On top of that, we also pay 7% of our support into the general fund (The lowest of all Canadian missions). This is to help pay for the power bills, building upkeep, administration fees, mission vehicle insurance, etc...

So ultimately, after taxes and the 7% to the mission, I would receive approximately $90!
