MEET LINSEY BLODGETT

Although I only decided to follow Jesus seriously in 2017 at the age of 21, God planted a heart of missions within me from the day I was born. Growing up in a fostering family, my parents, Clint and Janice Yanke, ingrained in me how to love others and be hospitable. Although I wanted to love others, I didn’t know exactly what that love was for myself. I knew love from my family, and I knew what friendship was, but it was only when I found Jesus that I knew what true, selfless, Godly love was, and I developed a deep desire to start sharing His amazing grace with others, just as he had given me.

I started a youth group in Canora, Sk as a new believer, with God's prompting on my heart. I didn’t want to lead anyone astray and teach falsehoods about God, so I read my Bible for hours each day and watched many sermons. It was when I took the youth to three-60-five (A youth conference at Nipawin Bible College) that I felt it on my heart that I needed to go to Bible school to learn more about God’s word and be adequately equipped to either answer questions or have the tools to search for them.

Through my one year at Millar College of the Bible, I learned of NCEM (Northern Canadian Evangelical Mission). I developed a good relationship with my now friend Caylea, an NCEM missionary, after NCEM came to the Bible college during the yearly missions conference. When I moved to Regina after Bible school, I helped her with an inner-city youth group through a mission formerly known as "Healing Hearts." She continued to be part of my life, even becoming my roommate for a year. Through her, I continued to be around NCEM and see their heart for the First Nations peoples in Canada.

In 2021 Jordan and I started to look into missions. We had been dating for around 4 years and knew marriage was on the horizon. We were looking into where God was leading us as a couple and NCEM seemed to stand out as a potential place God was leading us. We went to Prince Albert, SK and toured the NCEM headquarters buildings (including Tribal Trails, the Printshop, and the finance department) and visited with some of the missionaries who worked there. Through this, Jordan felt that the job he was already working (IKS Media) was exactly where God wanted him to be right now, while I felt God tugging at my heart to join the mission. It was a difficult decision, but Jordan and I agreed that if God was calling me to missions, I needed to follow. I went to Prince Albert for a one-year internship, working in the Printshop and doing Bible studies with some young adults through New Life Indian Alliance Fellowship. My year in Prince Albert, SK confirmed my calling into full-time missions. While on my internship in December 2022, Jordan proposed.

After our wedding on June 24, 2023, I moved back to Regina, SK and received "Canidate" missionary status. This means that I am a full-time missionary who is not fully funded. Because of this, I cannot work full-time hours as I am supposed to be out raising support to at least 80%. While fundraising, I am currently working on building relationships with some churches that are already working in the inner city of Regina. Jordan and I are also working together, alongside Tribal Trails, on a project called Generation Hope, a YouTube channel geared toward First Nations youth and young adults. It is a channel where young First Nations believers can share their hope in Jesus Christ through their testimonies. We are hoping to launch this YouTube Channel in 2024. Please continue praying for Jordan and me as we work with NCEM to share our hope in Jesus with the Nations!
