The Adventure of Marriage
Jordan and I are well on our way to starting a new adventure! The adventure of marriage.
The wedding could not have gone better! We started the day off with a simple ceremony at the Yanke Acreage. Pastor Randy Clark officiated the wedding and shared a wonderful sermon on the “Four C’s of Marriage.” When the papers were signed and Hunter Brothers’ “long way to love you” started playing, we walked down the aisle as Mr. & Mrs. Blodgett.
We had many laughs, from riding in the best man’s “Golf Car” (a golf cart with a car engine capable of highway speeds) to getting cutlery thrown at Jordan and me when he broke his fork cutting a pancake! It was a wonderful day to remember, ending with sitting around the campfire.
The next day, Jordan and I did some laundry, packed our bags and headed to Alberta for our honeymoon! We spent two days at the West Edmonton Mall, one in Jasper, one driving between Jasper and Canmore, and one day in Calgary before heading home!
Now that we are home, we are settling into “normal.” Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly what normal is yet. When you are getting married, everyone talks about the honeymoon phase; when you are so infatuated with each other, they could do no wrong. People speak little about the number of small things that were normal for you that now do not work. What time do we go to bed? What do we eat for supper? What do our evenings look like? These are all things that Jordan and I will have to work through and figure out what our “normal” is. I’m very excited to figure these things out and work on growing with each other. We are on the adventure of a lifetime, and I’m so excited to do it with my now husband, Jordan Blodgett!
Because we just got married, I just moved back to Regina, and we have many day-to-day things to figure out, I will be waiting until fall to start back up in active ministry. What does this mean? I will be working on raising the support I need to be full-time! I am required to raise $4800 a month by NCEM to be considered truly full-time ministry. This amount seems like a lot, but it is to ensure that I can focus on ministry rather than “How are we going to pay bills.” This amount also covers ministry expenses such as fuel, adobe subscription, snacks for Bible study, Bibles, mentor lunches/coffee, trips to Prince Albert, and other things that come with being a missionary!
This small break from active ministry will allow Jordan and me to find a “normal” to do ministry healthily. I need to put my husband ahead of my ministry, and this “time off” will ensure that he is placed in that priority slot! I will still be working on building relationships with inner-city churches during this time and will be starting a Bible study at “Prairie View Community Church” as well.
Things to be praying for…
- Jordan and I finding our “normal”
- What ministry will look like through the lens of marriage
- Support coming in so Linsey can be full-time in the fall
- Doors opened to speak in churches
- Jordan and I growing in the Lord and finding out what it means to be a Godly spouse
