Church on Muskoday Reserve
Updated: Jul 19, 2022
The first Sunday being in Prince Albert, SK, I had the honor of going to Muskoday Church with Dave and Joanna (other NCEM missionaries that serve at the office).
My first church experience on the reserve was an interesting one.
Someone had broken in over the week. The door was crow barred open. We looked around to find evidence of anything missing or broken. We were surprised to find ALMOST everything where it should be.
Upon further investigation, downstairs the person who broke in drew a pentagram (star with a circle around it) on the floor in red marker. They then placed a bible in the middle of it and placed candles (which they took from the sanctuary) at each point of the star. This was only a scare tactic though as they did not even light the candles!
That Sunday studied Psalm 37.
The first three verses state:
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
This was a wonderful example for the four people that came to church that Sunday! There was worry because of the evil scare tactics that happened, but this verse tied directly into the situation that we walked into that morning.
God not only protected the church, but he also gave a wonderful example of his sovereignty and who he is in this situation!
